Music

Ballydehob Jazz Festival is getting bigger, and 2010 will see about 17 different acts across the programme.

MICHAEL BUCKLEYHEADLINE CONCERT
This year we’re proud to present Michael Buckley as our Headline Concert in the hall on Saturday night. Michael is one of the most important and influential musicians to arrive on the Irish jazz scene in recent times and promises us an evening to remember.

ANDREAS PLAYS SWING
12 year old Andreas Varady is definitely one to watch out for and is expected to be world class if he continues the way he’s going. He and his father Bandi will be treating us to a special performance on Friday night in Levis’s bar, where they’ll be playing swing through to Charlie Parker, so there’s your chance to catch a future legend here in Ballydehob!

AUSTIN DURACK
“Durack is the kind of musician you’d listen to outside a café on a sunny afternoon and unexpectedly lose several hours…”

CORKS GOT TALENT
A chance to hear the talents of the young Ballydehob ‘Corks Got Talent’ contestants in an outdoor performance on Saturday 1st May.

DE-HALLY-BOB GUITAR CLUB
A Sunday afternoon concert in the hall, with the young jazz guitar pupils of Patrick Forrester swinging in the style of Django Rienhardt and Ed Lang.

CORK CITY JAZZ BAND
Say no more – probably the best known dixieland band in the South!

DARKTOWN STRUTTERS
A red hot swing jazz quartet to lift the spirits, the Darktown Strutters create a beautiful mood in any venue and have delighted audiences everywhere.

DAWN and DUSK
Four rather old jazz addicts – “it don’t mean a thing if it aint got that swing!”

EARTHSHIP
To boldly go where no band has gone before…

THE FIREFLIES
The fiery footstompin’ Klezmer band.

IKARUMBA
A stunning 4-piece fusion of flamenco and rumba.

LES and SAM CLAGUE
Guitar virtuosi from Clonakilty.

MOLLY and NORMAN
An intimate concert.

THE SAMUEL HUDSON QUARTET
The Samuel Hudson Quartet, led by the Berlin based saxophonist Samuel Hudson, features three of the finest up and coming musicians based in the UK and will be performing an exciting mix of standard jazz and original compositions.

SKAZZ
5 piece ska band from Doonbeg, Co.Clare.

SOME LIKE IT HOT
